It’s not a secret that I love reading. I’ve been known to stay awake until 3 in the morning just to finish a book that has really hooked me. So, when I found out YouTube contains videos of authors reading their works I lost around a day and a half!
Here are a few of my favorites to get you started:
J.K. Rowling reading Harry Porter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Any Potterhead will love watching this lovely author read from the first book. Her accent makes the story even more magical.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
B.J. Novak – The Book With No Pictures. Novak can charm anyone. He’s handsome and funny and….. sorry, lost my train of thought. Anyway, it’s fun to watch as he charms these little kids with his creative book.
The Book With No Pictures
John Green – Turtles All The Way Down. If you’re a reader at all, you know his name and you love his breakout best-seller turned movie. Now watch as he reads from his new one! He’s entertaining and funny (who knew? We all did.)
Turtles All The Way Down
Steven King – Afterlife. King is a master storyteller. Some will argue he’s THE master storyteller. I couldn’t find video of him reading any of his best-sellers, but this short story read at UMass Lowell is engaging and gripping. Long Live The King. (WARNING: This video has some language that may not be suitable for younger viewers.)

So, here’s your homework: I want you to (1) watch the above videos and let me know what you think of them, and (2) do some YouTube searches and let me know what you find.
