“Saying “yes” doesn’t mean I don’t know how to say no, and saying “please” doesn’t mean I am waiting for permission.”
Amy Poehler is seriously funny. I loved her on SNL and Parks and Recreation.
Yes, Please is an amazing journey of stories and thoughts from Ms. Poehler.
She gives you intimate family stories and inside scoops on the famous personalities she knows. Amy is a smart girl with a big heart and that clearly comes through in her writing.
I can tell you my favorite chapters, but the real draw to this book is how you feel after reading it. Not only did I get a an inside look into the life of one of my heroines, her writing lets you feel like she’s telling YOU that things will be great and you can achieve what you want.
“You do it because the doing of it is the thing. The doing is the thing. The talking and worrying and thinking is not the thing.”
Certainly, read this right away if you haven’t. And if you have, read it again!
“The only way we will survive is by being kind. The only way we can get by in this world is through the help we receive from others. No one can do it alone, no matter how great the machines are.”
…..Oh, and if you’re reading this…..Thanks, Amy.
