Power To The Females! In Celebration Of Women Writers

I love women writers.
Women have amazing points of view, and aside from the difference between fiction and non-fiction, their writing speaks volumes about the female experience.
Below are a few of my favorite female writers I highly recommend you read today:

I’ve been a fan of Janet Evanovich for years.  Like, 20 years.  Like over half my life.
Her Stephanie Plum novels are funny, sexy, mysterious, and completely entertaining.  All of which combines to make a perfect read!
When I daydream about becoming a writer, I dream I’m Janet.

Arguably the most prolific feminist writer of our time, Ms. Gay’s writing explores themes on race, gender identity, and sexuality.  As a survivor of sexual assault at the age of 12, her work is raw, honest, and moving.
If you read nothing else by her, check out Bad Feminist.

Everyone loves the Harry Potter story.  Even if you aren’t a “book person” – you know the movies and are just as enchanted as those who read it first.
The story of Ms. Rowling’s rise from single working mother to published billionaire is not only inspiring to writers, but to women who are struggling everywhere.
(BONUS NOTE:  Ms. Rowling dropped off the Forbes billionaires list in 2012 due to a combination of factors, including an estimated $160 million she donated to charity.  That fact just makes me happy!)
This list cannot contain all the wonderful female writers you can explore and love.  If you are so inclined, you need to also check out: Emily Dickinson, Amy Tan, Toni Morrison, Stephanie Meyer, Judy Blume, Margaret Atwood, Joan Didion, Jhumpa Lahiri, and on, and on, and on…….
If I’ve not mentioned your favorite lady-writer, please comment!
