A Hunger Games Prequel Is On The Way!

If you’re missing the world of the Hunger Games trilogy, be sad no more!

Suzanne Collins has announced that a prequel to the story detailing the Dark Days, the tumultuous period 64 years before the events of the ‘Hunger Games’ take place, is forthcoming next year.

With the intent to “explore the state of nature, who we are and what we perceive is required for our survival,” Collins has turned her futuristic series back slightly in time to fill in the blanks of Panem’s history.  Slated for a release next spring, the prequel will chronicle the Dark Days – the period immediately following a failed insurrection in Panem a full 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games take place.

Given the chronology, it’s hard to imagine that we’ll be seeing much of the beloved characters of Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, or Gale Hawthorne in the prequel, but the spirit of rebellion embodied by the Mockingjay herself will certainly play a central role.

Keep an eye on the “Coming Soon” blog posts and I’ll let you know more news about this book as I hear it.
