Writing Prompt: Using Your Current Read To Spur Your Next Story

A fun and easy way to inspire your next story is simply to pick a line from the book you’re reading.

We know writers are readers and readers are writers – so I know you’re in the middle of reading a book right now.

So, when you’re ready to be prompted into a new story, open that book randomly and pick a sentence (your eyes and pick one without looking).

Then start to write – quickly.  Don’t copy the story line or characters from the book you’re reading; get something new from the sentence you picked.

Don’t censor yourself – just get words down and see what happens.

This can lead to the most unexpected outcomes and a very creative story.
