Writing Prompts For Your Quarantine Extra Writing Time

The coronavirus has transformed life as we know it.  Schools are closed, we’re confined to our homes and the future feels very uncertain.

Why write at a time like this?

For one, we are living through history. Future historians may look back on the art that ordinary people are creating right now to tell the story of life during the coronavirus.

But writing can also be deeply therapeutic. It can be a way to express our fears, hopes and joys. It can help us make sense of the world and our place in it.

Plus, even though school buildings are shuttered, that doesn’t mean learning has stopped. Writing can help us reflect on what’s happening in our lives and form new ideas.

Use your current experiences to finish the following thoughts through your writing.

3. “The next time I…”

4. “It tasted like…”

5. “It felt like…”

6. “It sounded like…”

7. “We were wrong about…”

8. “We were right about…”

9. “That was the day we…”

10. “This is our new…”

11. “It’s here.”

12. “I learnt that…”

13. “I made a terrible mistake when…”

14. “Nobody expected us to…”

15. “Do you know why…”

16. “It’s always important to…”
